When converting Apple audio formats to high-fidelity MP3, the acoustic goal is to ensure the secondary lossy compression stage does not inflict compounded psychoacoustic damage. Standard M4A files are encoded in AAC (Advanced Audio Coding), which utilizes perceptual noise shaping. As a transparent lossless-to-lossy bridge, this tool utilizes the Web Audio API to decode the M4A/ALAC container into raw PCM float32 arrays (a 32-bit depth resolution) in your device's RAM. This prevents intermediary clipping. We then quantize this pristine stream into a 320 kbps CBR (Constant Bitrate) MP3.
By selecting 320 kbps, you disable the LAME encoder's low-pass filters. Lower bitrates abruptly cut off frequencies above 16kHz to save data. At 320 kbps, the full 20Hz-20kHz spectrum is preserved, making this a reliable audio transcoding solution for high-resolution 48kHz sample rates exported from Logic or ProTools.
